Fasting from Anxiety
Preacher: Pastor Ben Robison Series: Peace and Anxiety Passage: Deuteronomy 8:1–14, Matthew 6:16–18
Finding peace amid anxiety requires us to trust God rather than being ruled by our fears. In Deuteronomy 8, God taught Israel to depend on Him through daily manna provision, demonstrating that we live by His word, not bread alone. Ironically, we're most likely to forget God when life is comfortable and prosperous. Like Jesus in Gethsemane, we may experience anxiety but can still submit to God's will. Fasting helps us practice this dependence, reminding us that Jesus is our true Bread of Life who sustains us beyond physical needs. True freedom comes not from never feeling anxious, but from refusing to let anxiety control our decisions.
