Why Delight in the Word?

Psalm 119, the longest chapter in the Bible, reveals why God's Word should be treasured above all earthly riches. The psalmist declares that God's law is better than thousands of gold and silver pieces because it transforms lives in profound ways. God's Word restrains sin by storing Scripture in our hearts and turning it into prayer rather than relying on willpower alone. When facing opposition, believers should respond by continuing to follow God's Word rather than attacking back. The Bible isn't a burden but a delight that gives life, strength, wisdom, and understanding. Most importantly, every portion of Scripture points us to Jesus, our Good Shepherd who seeks us out and restores us to God.
